Ashtanga Yoga was devised by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois and he is the key proponent of bringing it to the west. It is a dynamic form of Hatha Yoga practice that deals with physical exercises or postures that bring the mind and the body to a unified state of well-being. There are 6 series in this said posture, starting with the Primary Series, which is the mother of all yoga practice. It basically strengthens, purifies the body, makes the body supple and flexible all at the same time.
